Tag: Hemorrhagic Enteritis (HE)

Hemorrhagic Enteritis (HE) of turkeys, is an acute disease caused by Siadenovirus (a member of the family Adenoviridae), immunosuppressive virus, which infect essentially animals at 4 weeks of age and older. Depression, bloody droppings (the skin and feathers around the vent are soaked with blood), transient immunosuppression, and increased mortality characterize this disease.
The clinical course of disease usually persists in the flock for 7–10 days and the losses could extend for an additional 2–3 weeks in the case of super imposed complications. Hemorrhagic enteritis is likely transmitted through the fecal-oral/ cloacal route. Control of the disease is gained by proper vaccination.
