Newcastle disease is a highly contagious viral infection of poultry caused by Avian orthoavulavirus 1. It affects the respiratory, nervous, and digestive systems, with symptoms ranging from mild respiratory signs to severe neurological disorders and high mortality. Transmission occurs through direct contact or contaminated materials. Vaccination and strict biosecurity are essential for control.
Egg Drop Syndrome ’76 (EDS-76) is a viral disease of laying hens caused by an adenovirus (Duck Adenovirus-1). It leads to a sudden drop in egg production, poor shell quality, and misshapen or shell-less eggs, without significant illness in the birds. Transmission occurs vertically and horizontally. Control is achieved through breeder vaccination and strict biosecurity measures.
