Newcastle disease (ND) is an acute viral disease of domestic poultry and many other bird species. Newcastle disease is caused by viruses in the serotype avian paramyxovirus type 1 (APMV-1). Pasteurella multocida is the causative agent of fowl cholera. All types of poultry are susceptible to infection with P. multocida. Morbidity and mortality rates depend on the pathogenicity of the strain and the susceptibility of the flock.
