VIRSAL DuET contains the attenuated Salmonella enteritidis/MTR2 strain and the Salmonella typhimurium/MTR40 strain.
The vaccine was developed by Biovac LTD using metabolic drift mutations. These vaccine strains are capable of invading and multiplying in the Mucosa/Gut-associated Lymphatic Tissue (M/GaLT), where they provoke protective cell-mediated and antibody immune responses that reduce sickness, carriage, and shedding of Salmonella enteritidis and Salmonella typhimurium.
